And… We’re back! After some time off, we’re back with new episodes of The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias. We welcome author Marielle Songy who recently penned a book on the famous New Orleans cocktail – the absinthe frappé.
Marielle joins us at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum where we discuss her book, how she came on board to write it for LSU Press, and some on her background.
Though the book, entitled The Absinthe Frappé, focuses on this important drink, there is much more to the story than just that! We discuss how she covers the history of absinthe, often seen as notorious and loaded with myth.

Additionally, we discuss how the drink came to be, some noted variations you can find around the city of New Orleans, and much more! We also let you know about a book signing, presentation, and tasting event coming up on July 6, 2023 at the Historic BK House & Gardens.

Here is another show we did, last year, on another book from the LSU Press series on “Bartending and Cocktails” – The Café Brûlot by Sue Strachan. The show was taped at the world-famous Arnaud’s, home of the equally famous French 75 Bar!
Check it out!
Cheers and Be Well, You All!
