On this edition of The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias, we chat with the leaders and latest student group from Turning Tables. This is the 3rd cohort to pass through the organization. Turning Tables seeks to provide professional training and life skills for persons of color in New Orleans looking to build a career in bartending and adjacent industries.

Please note – this show was taped before the end of 2021 and aired on radio then. We have new shows coming as well as a few others from late last year that we will roll out periodically, too. Stay tuned!

The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias – Turning Tables Vol3 – 2022Ep1

This time around, we’re at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum (SoFAB) visiting with some of the leaders and latest externs (students) from the third cohort of Turning Tables. As we have done two times prior, we discuss the organization and chat extensively with the externs regarding their experience with the program.

We also discuss how the program has changed and developed since the first group completed the program. We touch on the experiential learning aspects of Turning Tables as well as many other facets of the program that develops professionals in bartending and connected industries. We talk about the importance of giving persons of color in New Orleans the skills and tools to be successful along their career path.

Also, we cover a bit of the history of the group, how Turning Tables has effectively partnered with hospitality spots to provide learning opportunities and job possibilities, and where the program is heading moving forward.

Our guests include the organization’s founder Touré Folkes, leaders Geoffrey Wilson, Cheyenne Serene, and Edward Allen, with cohort 3 externs Brittany Williams, Erika Flowers, Ari Nicholas, and Kiall Wilson.

Please visit their website to learn more and we encourage you to lend some support to this terrific organization and the talented, passionate people that make it happen!

Cheers and Be Well, You All!
