On this installment of The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias, we return to one of our favorite haunts in the French Quarter of New Orleans – Latitude 29! We’re joined by proprietors and good friends, Annene and Jeff “Beachbum” Berry. We discuss their interesting backgrounds, how they met, how they became life and business partners, and much more of their story. We talk about their collective move into hospitality with the opening of Latitude 29 in 2014 and lots on what you’ll find at this terrific bar and restaurant. We also chat about their broader business approaches, issues in the hospitality industry, and much, much more!

The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias – Annene and Jeff “Beachbum” Berry of Latitude 29 – 2022Ep3

This time around on The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias, we’re hanging out at Latitude 29, the terrific bar and restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans. We visit with proprietors, Annene and Jeff “Beachbum” Berry.

Jeff has been on the show several times, but this is a first visit from Annene and we’re thrilled to have her! We talk about their backgrounds and how they came to open Latitude 29 here in New Orleans. We also discuss how they work together as a great complimentary team.

We let you know about the space, their crew, the wonderful food, and, of course, the amazing tropical drink program built on Jeff’s (with a large assist from Annene) extensive work in the history of cocktails. Connected to this, we touch on their business activities around Latitude 29 – cocktail/history books, merchandise, branded spirits, and more.

Importantly, we discuss issues in the hospitality industry including a conversation about some of the troubling imagery historically connected to the term “Tiki.” Other topics include more on the business, Jeff’s new “Hamilton Beachbum Berry’s Zombie Rum,” and more.

Certainly, we sip on some rum throughout and share thoughts on that front, as well. Overall, it’s a fun, engaging chat with two terrific folks that you don’t want to miss!

Cheers and Be Well, You All!
