The NOLADrinks Show – 7-9-18 – Fred Parent of Hendrick’s Gin with Arie Dixon and John Stanley

We start this go-round of the show off with a bit of a rundown of this week’s episode as well as covering who’s up next week – Gary Solomon, Jr. of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation and Ian McNutly, restaurant writer for the New Orleans Advocate. We also make a note of the recent Essence Festival that just wrapped up on Sunday.

Next up, we move into our featured interview with Fred Parent, brand ambassador for Hendrick’s Gin. We’re also joined by his friends and musical collaborators, Arie Dixon and John Stanley. We talk, of course, about Hendrick’s Gin and touch on the Martinez cocktail among other related topics.

We also talk about their backgrounds and shared history in the service industry and how that has led to musical collaborations, including a current project we talk about – though, more is coming as they finalize things. It’s an interesting chat discussing the parallels and intersections with music, the service industry, and food and drink.

In our podcast-only portion, “Another Shot with NOLADrinks,” we cover even more ground with Fred, Arie, and John on these topics. We, then, wrap things up with our “Parting Shot” discussing how we are reaching a growing understanding of how ambience and our senses – including hearing – affect taste. We touch on some of the implications this is having (and will continue to have) as the hospitality industry and those working in it continue to blur the lines of this concept.

Thanks to the Bourbon O Bar, located in the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, for hosting us. Below the map that shows their location, you can subscribe to, download, and stream The NOLADrinks Show podcast…

Cheers, You All!
