On this edition of The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias we’re talking further about Tales of the Cocktail. This time, we discuss the grant program, the Spirited Awards, and much more. We’re joined by Tales executive director, Caroline Rosen; The Drinking Coach and Tales grant committee member, Tiffanie Barriere; Keyatta Mincey of Pictures and Cocktails; and Tales Chief of Staff, Daniela Jugemann. It’s a fun, lively, and interesting conversation touching on issues in the industry, our guests’ backgrounds, and even an aloe liqueur!

The NOLADrinks Show – 7-23-18 – Tales of the Cocktail and More – Caroline Rosen – Tiffanie Barriere – Keyatta Mincey – Daniela Jageman

We start things off on this episode talking about the recently wrapped-up Tales of the Cocktail – the largest bartender and spirits industry conference in the world. It takes place every July in New Orleans. We talk about the event, the Spirited Awards that were handed out, and some of the recipients of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation’s newly minted grants program.

Then, we move into our featured interview. This was taped a touch before Tales at the home of Caroline Rosen, Executive Director of Tales of the Cocktail Foundation. We chat with her and we’re also joined by The Drinking Coach, Tiffanie Barriere, who is a Tales grants committee member, and Keyatta Mincey of Pictures and Cocktails.

We talk about their backgrounds and how they got involved with Tales. We learn about what Tiffanie and Keyatta are up to, working as talented bartenders and drinks educators out of Atlanta. We also discuss Essence Festival (in which Tales as well as Tiffanie and Keyatta participated.) We chat about the grants program and some of the areas its funding to address important issues in the bartending and spirits community. This includes work-life balance, sustainability, diversity, and more.

Of course, we sip on some libations – namely, delicious gin and basil greyhounds, have some great laughs, and even discuss an aloe liqueur and a new gin on the market. Believe me, we cover a lot of ground!

Tiffanie and Keyatta hang out for “Another Shot with NOLADrinks” and we’re joined by Tales Chief of Staff, Daniela Jagemann (pictured second from left) who steps in for Caroline (she had to slip out to an event.) So, we stick around her pad and finish-up the drinks! We talk more about Tales, Essence Fest, and New Orleans, among other things.

We close things out with our “Parting Shot” where we touch on some thoughts and issues connected to diversity in the industry inspired, in part, by the Spirited Awards and discussions happening in and around Tales of the Cocktail.
