The NOLADrinks Show – 6-25-18 – Caroline Rosen of Tales of the Cocktail 2018

We kick things off on this episode talking about this week’s show. We also mention the announcement of Tales of the Cocktail’s Spirited Awards nominees, announced after we taped our featured interview with Caroline.

Then we move to our featured interview with Caroline Rosen, the new Executive Director of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation. We cover Caroline’s background and her stepping into the role of E.D. at Tales in February.

We also discuss the new leadership in the organization and how they are moving forward with changing the group’s structure into a true educational non-profit foundation. A major part of this effort is their new grant program that has been established to award funding to worthy projects. These will address important issues facing the bartending and spirits industries.

Caroline outlines the many activities, seminars, and tasting rooms that will take place at this year’s Tales event, the 16th annual occurrence here in New Orleans. We talk about the economic impact and importance the event has for the city, especially during the slow summer months.

As we move into our podcast-only portion of the show, “Another Shot with NOLADrinks,” we go deeper into the event and the foundation. We discuss some of the issues that Tales is addressing that are important to the industry including personal wellness and sexual violence and harassment. We talk more about the grant program, as well.

Then, we close things out with our “Parting Shot” where we talk about the growing trend of banning plastic straws.

Thanks to our friends at Sylvain for hosting us for our featured interview. On the map below that shows the location of Sylvain, you can subscribe to, stream, and download The NOLADrinks Show podcast

Cheers, You All!
