On this week’s The NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias, we’re talking about health and wellness in the hospitality industry. We’re joined by folks from Healthy Hospo, a terrific non-profit organization that provides training and resources to address the issue. This is part of our ongoing “Sustainability Series” and marks the end of our Tales of the Cocktail 2019 coverage.

NOLADrinks Show – 8-26-19 – Health and Wellness in the Hospitality Industry with Healthy Hospo

We start things off letting you know what’s on tap for this week’s episode. We also give you a quick update on one of our guest’s journey to run 42 marathons in 42 days in his 42nd year of life!

Next up, we’re off to our featured interview recorded at Tales of the Cocktail 2019. In fact, it’s our last of six great shows taped at that important event! We’re joined by Healthy Hospo founder, Tim Etherington-Judge, and their US ambassador, Kristine Bocchino.

We talk about the organization and their background and begin to discuss various concepts that can threaten the wellness of individuals (and, by extension, businesses) in the hospitality and liquor industries.

Then, we’re also joined by Effie Panagopoulos and Moe Aljaff. Effie is a bartender and spirit brand owner – Kleos Mastiha – out of Florida and Moe is the co-owner of Two Schmucks a bar in Barcelona. They both share some of their experiences in the industry and discuss life choices they have made to address health and wellness.

Overall, we discuss concepts such as work-life balance, the implications of drinking on the job, how things can affect your partner, ideas businesses can employ to address these issues, and much more.

Tim talks about, at the time we recorded the show, embarking on a journey to run 42 marathons in 42 days during his 42nd year of life (also, for you non-metric folks – a marathon is 42 kilometers!) The idea is to inspire and raise funds for the cause. Check out the top of the show to hear an update on the effort. Tim took a break from the effort to address some health issues and bartenders from around the globe have stepped up to help (and, don’t worry he will back at it in no-time!)

Everyone sticks around for a few minutes on “Another Shot with NOLADrinks Show” where we chat a bit more on the topic. Thanks to Tales of the Cocktail for assisting with organizing this episode. Cheers, You All!
