We kick things off on the show teeing this week’s program up for you. We recorded this episode at Tales of the Cocktail.

Next up, we’re off to our featured interview with spirits educator and consultant, Danny Ronen of DC Spirits (and many other things). He was on with us last year around this time when we explored the interesting spirit, Genever. This time, we discuss pisco – the fascinating spirit of Peru.

Regular listeners of the show will know that we’ve discussed pisco before on more than one occasion. We’ve gone into pretty significant detail on production, the traditional and cultural importance of the spirit, and its history. On this show, we get to enjoy several expressions with Danny!

We sample piscos from various producers that demonstrate different styles and flavor profiles. They include “puros” (single grape varietal expressions) and “acholados” (blends.) Also, we discuss bits on production, flavor characteristics, and much more.

Also, Danny lets us know about an interesting DIY monthly cocktail kit from Shaker and Spoon.
