NOLADrinks Show – 10-5-17 – Cajun Spirits Distillery

On this edition of the NOLADrinks Show with Bryan Dias, we pay a visit to New Orleans’ Cajun Spirits Distillery and chat with distiller, Edward Haik. We also talk about South Africa Wine Week and other events around the area.

NOLADrinks – 10-5-17 – Cajun Spirits Distillery

We kick things off talking about hurricane relief and connected efforts by the New Orleans service industry community to help out victims of these recent disasters. We also let you know where, in the New Orleans area, you can help out folks (it is much needed!) in Puerto Rico. We also talk about a dinner that took place right after the radio broadcast of the show at Cavan that was a paired meal with saké.

Then, we pay a visit to Cajun Spirits Distillery located in New Orleans. We chat with Edward Haik, distiller, and one-half of a family duo, along with his brother, Gus, that operates the distillery. We talk about their story and how they got things off the ground.

We also taste through some nice stuff and talk about what they make and their production program. It’s a fun visit chatting about their spirits, their stills (pictured at left), how they source local Louisiana sugarcane, and much more. Lastly, we mention how you can pay them a visit and highlight their soon-to-be-open tasting room!

We close out the show talking about a few other events going-on around town (in some cases, weather permitting due to tropical cyclone Nate.) One note – the event at Pontchartrain Vineyards scheduled for Saturday (October 7) has been postponed. Stay tuned for a new date.
