On this edition of the NOLADrinks Show, we welcome Chef/Owner of Angeline, Alex Harrell and Executive Chef of Sylvain, Martha Wiggins. Martha worked under Alex when he was the founding EC at Sylvain. We also chat about eggnog and some drink trends to look for in 2017.

NOLADrinks Show – 12-22-16 – Chefs Wiggins and Harrell

In the first hour, we talk about some happenings and things to know around town. We also discuss the origins of eggnog and some of the variations around the planet of this traditional holiday drink. We then talk about a few trends in the drinks world to look for in 2017. We close out the hour talking about some annoying habits sometimes exhibited by people in the wine trade.

In the second hour, we are joined by Chefs Wiggins and Harrell. We talk with Martha and Alex about their backgrounds, shared history, and cooking styles. We also talk about their philosophies and share some stories about their early days together at Sylvain. Alex lets us know more about his place and when he took the plunge to open Angeline.

It’s a nice show and discussion with two friends and rising star chefs here in New Orleans. We close things out with a brief discussion of what will be on their holiday table over the Christmas weekend.
