NOLADrinks Show – 12-28-17 – Champagne with Bubblyothèque
We kick things off talking about some events around town. There’s so much going here in New Orleans, as always. But, throw-in New Year’s and, well, you can imagine. We just scratch the surface.
Up next is our featured interview and it’s just in time to help you ring in 2018 with some bubbly! We talk Champagne with Dr. Michael Knisley of Bubblyothèque. It’s an organization dedicated to educating folks about Champagne through classes, tastings, dinners, and more.
We discuss what makes Champagne what it is and how it differs from the larger category of sparkling wine. We also talk about its production method and how that differs from still wines. Other topics include “grower Champagne” and how these wines vary from the “big houses,” as well as a discussion on how you don’t need to break the bank to get your hands on a good bottle of bubbles for the holiday or any occasion!
Then, we chat with Ali Griebe and Chris Zulueta (pictured from left, respectively) of Sylvain in the French Quarter (where we taped most of the show this week – thanks to them!) We touch on some winter cocktails, what’s seasonal on their food menu, and more.
We close the show out discussing some things we, here at NOLADrinks, would like to see happen in 2018. We also mention a few things we’d like to see go away in the New Year, too!
I want to thank everyone out there who supports and listens to the NOLADrinks Show! We wouldn’t be doing this without you! I wish you and yours a happy, healthy, and joyous New Year!
