NOLADrinks Show – 1-7-19 – French Quarter Fest Series – Stephanie Jordan and Tim Laughlin

Happy New Year! We get things going by letting you know about today’s show as well as a bit on next week’s installment featuring our favorite beer guys, Matt and Sal, talking winter brews and more.

Next up, we head over to Louisiana Music Factory on Frenchmen St. – the heart of New Orleans’ music scene – for our featured interview. It’s part of our new and ongoing French Quarter Fest Series that’s partnership with Louisiana Music Factory and French Quarter Festival.

We tape the shows on-location at the record store. We feature local musicians paired up as guests to talk music, food, drink, culture, and more. This first installment features two truly exceptional New Orleans musicians – jazz and R&B singer Stephanie Jordan and jazz clarinetist Tim Laughlin. Though they’ve never collaborated, they’ve known each other for years. Tim is also a board member of French Quarter Fest.

We talk about their music, their influences, and their long-standing and honored careers the business and around the New Orleans music scene. We discuss the importance of helping the younger generations of local musicians and the critical importance music plays in our culture.

We also talk about their love of food – both being locals – there’s a lot of talk about growing up around the local cuisine and some of their favorite dishes. Stephanie, an active home cook, shares some of her favorites to make.

Of course, we also talk about performing at French Quarter Festival and what that event means to them and to the city and its music, in general. They both stick around for our podcast-only segment, “Another Shot with NOLADrinks,” where we talk more about their approach to music and more. We close out with our “Parting Shot” talking a bit about “culture” here in New Orleans.

Cheers, You All!
