NOLADrinks – 12-15-16 – Holiday Beverages!

We kick-off the show talking about some events happening around New Orleans of interest. We’re then joined for our “Wine Time” segment by Leora Madden, owner of Pearl Wine Co. located in the Mid-City neighborhood of town. We talk about ideas for wine for the holiday season. This includes a discussion of things commonly found on the holiday table in NOLA – dishes such as gumbo and roast.

We talk about pairing wines with these dishes. We also discuss some ways to keep all your guests happy, no matter their preference in wine. We also, briefly, talk about a couple of Pearl’s upcoming tasting events.

We then roll through a list culled from an article on The Drinks Business website, “The World’s Most Disgusting Alcoholic Beverages.” There are some doozies, to be sure!

CJ Nielsen of Angeline and CJ’s Custom Jobs and Hot Tub Lounge and Lucinda Weed of Black Penny, NOLA JUGS, and Free Agent NOLA join the show in the second hour and weigh-in on some of the list mentioned above.

For our “At the Bar” segment, we talk about holiday cocktails. We cover toddies, including CJ’s winning entry in the recent event, “Tales of the Toddy” that took place here in New Orleans last week, mulled wine, Tom and Jerry’s, and more! Lucinda also brought in a delicious rum cake sent over from Puerto Rico! Thanks, Lucy!

Below the map that shows some of the locations discussed on the show, you will find the podcast. You can stream, download, and subscribe to show!

Cheers, You All!
